History

The original name of the band was Saron Gas. The band's first major release was entitled "Disclaimer" and featured the single "Fine Again" but the band rose to fame with the single entitled "Broken". It featured Amy Lee from Evanescence and was also included on The Punisher soundtrack. Seether have also had their songs played on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack, and in the film Daredevil, starring Ben Affleck. Their song "Sold Me" was the official theme song of WWE's Bad Blood pay-per-view event in June 2004. Critics frequently accuse Seether's lead singer, Shaun Morgan (formerly Shaun Welgemoed), of purposely imitating the legendary lead singer/guitarist of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, and lead singer/guitarist, Wes Scantlin of Puddle Of Mudd. Seether's covers of various Nirvana songs at live events has only fueled more such criticism. Also, there have been many misunderstandings about Seether. It was said that the band had fights with the record label (Wind-Up Records) about profanity in the CD Karma and Effect. That is an urban legend. Shaun Morgan wanted to try something different artistically, and the record label had nothing to do with the profanity situation. However, Wind-Up had a lot to do with the title of the album. Originally, Seether wanted the name of their new album, Karma and Effect, to be called Catering to Cowards, but the label took offense to the name and so the band changed it to Karma and Effect. Their song Remedy was the official theme song of the 2005 installment of WWE SummerSlam.

Dave Cohoe was the original drummer for Seether. Unfortunately in 2002, Dave Cohoe had to leave Seether because of family commitments.

Yamin, Daughtry criticized on 'Idol'
Richmond Times-Dispatch - Mar 09 6:34 AM
Not so much love this week. For the first time in semifinal competition, last night's performances by Elliott Yamin and Chris Daughtry on Fox's "American Idol" earned negative comments from Simon Cowell, the most opinionated of the show's three judges.

Clean-cut:
The Buffalo News - Mar 09 6:08 AM
The more facial hair Elliott Yamin removes, the better he looks. Back when he had an Amish farmer's chin-fringe, it was harder to reconcile the voice with the face. Now there's something faintly Springsteen-esque about his expressions.
