Hilton Hotels Corporation NYSE: HLT operates one of the world's largest chains of hotels, headquarted in Beverly Hills, California. It was founded by Conrad Hilton in Cisco, Texas, The Mobley, was Hiltons first hotel. With aspirations for guest service Hilton has become a leader in the hospitality industry setting new benchmarks with hotels and technology. Hilton Hotels grew to become the world's first coast-to-coast hotel chain placing great emphasis on the business travel.
The chain has grown to over 500 Hilton branded hotels across the world and has partnerships with many airline and car rental companies. The Hilton Hotels company has always been a family enterprise owned,however by stockholders.

History
The original company, formed in 1919, sold the rights to the Hilton brand name outside of North America to a British company in 1964, which renamed itself Hilton Group. 
As a result, there are two separate, fully independent companies operating hotels under the Hilton name.  Those Hiltons outside the US were, until recently, known as Hilton International hotels. In addition, for many years hotels run by the Hilton Group in the US were called Vista Hotels, while hotels operated by the American arm of Hilton outside the US were named Conrad Hotels. The Vista chain has been phased out, while Conrad is now restyled as the luxury brand of Hilton and operates hotels within the US, as well as abroad. To minimize consumer confusion, the American and British Hilton companies have, for the last few years, had a joint marketing agreement under which they share the same logos and promote each other's brands. These Hilton hotels are based in Australia, Canada and Europe  
On October 14, 2005 Hilton Hotels Corporation approached the British-based Hilton Group (FTSE:HG) with a possible sale of Hilton Group's hotel's business with a possible figure of $6.3US.

Hilton's loyalty program, HHonors, is unique in that it allows travelers to accumulate both points toward future stays or upgrades at Hilton hotels and airline miles on selected airlines.  HHonors markets this feature under the slogan "Double Dipping", and it is the only hotel loyalty program to do so.

 Trivia 
 The Hilton Craigendarroch in Ballater, Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom, is the smallest hotel in the worldwide chain. It has 45 bedrooms. It should be noted however that it is owned by the Hilton Group and not Hilton Hotels Corporation therefore is not part of the HHC chain by definition.

 John Lennon and Yoko Ono held their first Bed-In for Peace between March 25 and March 31 1969 at the Amsterdam Hilton in Room 902.  This room has become a popular tourist destination.

 Hilton becomes the first international hotel chain with the opening of the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
